Thousands of Palestinian prisoners — most of them detained without charge — have been released from Israeli jails as part of the Gaza ceasefire deal.
Reunions saw a mix of joy and sadness after people heard about the conditions their loved ones endured.
Electroshock devices, physical and sexual abuse, starvation and outbreaks of diseases.
But several high-profile prisoners - including Marwan Barghouti - remain in Israeli jails.
Hundreds more were forced into exile by Israel.
And the majority return to rubble in Gaza and risk being arrested again in the Occupied West Bank.
So, is it possible for former Palestinian prisoners to truly embrace freedom with life under occupation and the scars of Israeli detention?

Presenter: Sami Zeidan

Guests:

Milena Ansari - The Israel and Palestine Researcher at Human Rights Watch and trained in International Law.

Basil Farraj - Assistant Professor at Birzeit University focusing on political prisoners and carceral violence.

Fadia Barghouti - English Supervisor at the Palestinian Ministry of Education and former detainee.

Greek farmers are grappling with withheld EU subsidies amid a scandal that has implicated political figures and exposed fraudulent claims amounting to millions of dollars.
While farmers struggle with rising costs for essentials such as feed and measures to combat livestock diseases, the government investigates allegations that funds were paid to individuals falsely claiming to be breeders.
At least $25m has been confirmed as fraudulently obtained, with hundreds of millions potentially unaccounted for.
In northern Greece’s Serres region alone, 2,700 farmers are affected, many of whom rear indigenous species like water buffalo and rely heavily on subsidies.
The fallout from the scandal compounds existing challenges for farmers, including climate change and high expenses, driving younger generations to seek opportunities abroad.
Farmers accuse the government of complicity in the mismanagement of funds, further eroding trust in the system.

Al Jazeera’s John Psaropoulos reports from Serres, Greece.
