In 2024, Bangladesh faced one of the worst floods in its history, affecting over 14 million people across 11 districts. Homes were washed away, livelihoods were destroyed and entire communities were left submerged in uncertainty.
In response, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) launched the Flood Recovery Operation; providing emergency life-saving support to all flood affected areas and helping communities in Feni, Noakhali, and Lakshmipur begin to rebuild their homes, health, and hope.
Here’s what has been achieved so far:
🔹 47,492 families received multipurpose cash grants
🔹 Over 60,000 families received cooked and dry food
🔹 569,705 liters of safe water and 248,700 water purification tablets distributed
🔹 791 families received shelter cash to repair damaged homes
🔹 27,160 people reached with mobile medical teams
🔹 29,004 people rescued with support from the Army and Navy
🔹28 families received livelihood support
Recently, a joint visit by the @SwissEmbassyDhaka; one of the key donors, witnessed these stories of recovery. Stories of courage. Stories of hope.
While the recovery is still ongoing, what we see on the ground is powerful; communities rising again with resilience, dignity, and unity.
